What is Tonsillitis?

Inflammation of one or two oval-shaped tonsils. Tonsils are the set of lymphoid organs at each side of the back of the throat, which includes the adenoid tonsil, two tubal tonsils, two palatine tonsils, and the lingual tonsils.

Tonsil size is most often described from the number 0 to 5 

*0- tonsils are previously removed by surgery.

*1+ tonsils occupy less than 25% of the lateral dimension of the oropharynx

*2+ tonsils occupy 26% to 50% of the lateral dimension of the oropharynx

*3+tonsils occupy 51% to 75% of the lateral dimension of the oropharynx.

*4+tonsils occupy more than 75% of the lateral dimension of the oropharynx

WHAT IS NORMAL TONSIL GRADE

The normal tonsil grade is 2. The patient with a grade 3+ makes sure to visit the ENT without delay. At this stage, the size of the tonsils may become75% of the oropharynx. 

 Causes of yellow patches and white patches on tonsils are the symptoms at the stage of 3+ tonsil size.

DO TONSILS HAVE HOLES?
